Kit

You've probably noticed

that it's usually a 50/50 chance of

seeing or at least hearing Kit

during one of our Episodes.

Kit was born January 11th, 2019.

We call Kit and Caden

Birthday Buddies.

​

Kit was brought into our family

after a VERY long search and many, many, many, MANY fundraisers,

to be trained as Caden's Service Dog.

We brought her home at 8 weeks old, and the rest is history.

​

In 2019 at 6 months old she began her basic Obedience Training.  Caden (and Mom) worked very hard with her.

She earned her

• AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Certificate

August 12th, 2019

• AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate

September 24th, 2019

• AKC Community Canine Certificate

October 29th, 2019

She passed all with flying colors.

The family went into the holidays that year taking a little break (but still working with her at home!)

When it came time, to sign back up for classes, she was signed up for

Therapy Dog Class.

She did VERY well, in fact Caden and Mom had started taking

her out to stores with them for

Public Access Training.

She trained with the Class once a week and went out and about sometimes twice a day, and the trainer was going to discuss with Mom the next steps for a Service Dog.

And then March 13th, 2020 happened...

The facility she had been attending classes at for the last 6 months closed permanently, and the trainer began working out of a different location an hour away.

​

So the hunt for another trainer began.

During Lockdown it was difficult.

Happily, we found a great Trainer just 30 minutes from us, highly recommended, AND has a group that trains Service Dogs to be matched with a person.

​

He and Caden (and Kit) clicked, so they began training with him end of October, 2020.  He was impressed with how quickly Kit learned. (She's very food motivated) But we soon learned that it's best if Dad takes Caden and Kit to training, otherwise Kit will keep looking to see where Mom is. (They bonded over Lockdown).

​

Currently Caden and Kit work with their trainer every other week, and do fundraisers quite often to be able to continue their training.

​

Kit is a VERY smart dog.

What's more is that she seems to not only want to help Caden, but she tries to help every member of the family in some way.
